FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

* How should I dress when attending your church?  Typically we dress casual–short sleeve shirts and blouses and both men and woman wear slacks. In the cooler months jackets and ties appear on some members but this is not a requirement. Just come as you are.

* Do you have a nursery? Yes!  We are equipped for bed babies up to Pre-K. Please bring disposable diapers and bottles/food for your baby if they will need to eat while you are in Bible study and Worship. For the older children we will supply a lite snack so be sure and tell the teachers if there is something your child is allergic to.  We keep the snack very simple (like goldfish crackers and water) so it is suggested that your child have breakfast before coming to Sunday school.

* Do you sing contemporary, traditional or blended songs in your worship hour? Yes! Depending on the week of service, the type of service can shift from contemporary in approach to traditional. Usually we offer a blend of music.

* Do I have to be a member of the church to sing in the choir? No we invite you to join in singing praises and joyful songs to our Lord. Warning…you will soon become a part of a warm and wonderful group of people and might find yourself seeking membership within the family of believers!

* What Bible translation is used at IBF? The pew Bible is the NIV. The pastor brings his message from a variety of translations including the King James, NAS, The Message, Holman, NLT, The Contemporary English Bible to name a few. Bring your favorite translation and follow along as we read God’s Word together.

* How do I join Irving Baptist Fellowship?  If you are already a Christian who has experienced immersion baptism and are from a church of like faith you may join by promise of letter from your former church or by statement of faith if that church no longer exists. Or, if you are more comfortable joining by statement we welcome you to do that.  If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and are looking for a church home we ask you to come to the front of the church and share that with the pastor. He will present you as a candidate for baptism and church membership.

* What if I have questions about becoming a Christian? You can come to the front of the church and tell the pastor you have questions and he will schedule an appointment with you or meet with you before or after the service. You may join the church anytime the church meets to worship.

* How do I become a Christian? Ask any member of Irving Baptist Fellowship and they will be anxious to explain the Good News of Jesus with you. Or, you can go online to www.needhim.org and find the age appropriate explanation.

* Do I have to join the church to attend Bible study or Worship?  No.  You may be a member of the Bible study class without joining the church. You may also attend the worship services of Irving Baptist Fellowship. As a member of the fellowship you have voting priviledges within the body.
