Bro. Larry grew up in East Texas and attended Tyler Jr. College where he met his sweetheart, Sue Ann, and they have been married for 38 years. They have 2 daughters, Keisha and Maresa, who are serving God in their particular churches. Bro. Larry had a career with Dallas County, but he has been leading various church music programs through the years. He most recently has been with Northview Baptist Church since 2004 and he served them as their Senior Pastor since 2007.
Pastor Larry comes to us with 3 Master’s Degrees, a Bachelor’s Degree, and an Associate’s Degree. But he is most proud of his many years of sitting in the floor and playing with children, toddlers, and babies. Three generations of people only thought his name was “Mr. Larry” and never knew he even had a last name. Pastor Larry has served as the Small Church Pastor’s President for the Dallas Baptist Association Churches for the past 3 years. He has seen the attendance and participation with this group grow. Pastor Larry has greatly enjoyed 6 multi-week mission trips to various countries in Africa, where God has allowed him to share the Truth of the Gospel and preach in these various countries.
Our Vision for our church is to grow as Christ’s Disciples and share the Truth of God’s Good News throughout our Community and our World. We are the Body of Christ and our Unity Together, as His Disciples, makes us quite powerful through the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
We are a smaller neighborhood church that is sitting in the midst of so many hungry souls that must be fed and served. Quite frankly, we serve a different niche’ of our community than the larger churches do. I love what our larger sister churches do and hopefully we can come along beside them and participate in community works like Serving Irving at Thanksgiving, etc. But there is a niche’ of our population that will never enter a larger church, but they will enter and participate in a smaller church. Therefore, we must be Disciples of Christ first, no matter what our size, and we are to always Intentionally Serve our Community and meet needs wherever God allows us the resources and ability to Serve Him in our Community.
We are actively seeking other believers to come along with us and share in the experience of God’s Grace through Irving Baptist Fellowship. Come join us at 2201 W. Shady Grove Rd., Irving, Texas 75060, right beside Sonic Drive-In, for a virtual 6:30 P.M. Wednesday Bible Study (Zoom) and Sunday Morning Bible Study at 9:45 A.M. and then Worship Together at 11:00 A.M. See you there!
