PASTOR’S POST

Texas Hope 2010 is the dream of the incoming president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Randel Everett. I’ve known Randel for almost 40 years now and he has always been a visionary kind of guy. When he accepted the position at the BGCT he immediately put forth a fresh focus for our churches and that was to share the gospel with all Texans by Easter 2010.  We are doing that through Prayer, Share and Care.

Texas Baptists are praying for the lost, the hungry, the hurting across the state and through caring hearts they are sharing and meeting the needs of people. Some have said that it was an impossible task to reach so many people in such a short time. That may be true…but thousands of people are now eating when they once were going hungry, they were lost but now have given their hearts to Christ, some were once inactive church members and are now moving out into their communities with a variety of ministering efforts.  We may not reach them all by Easter 2010 but we will reach some, and if the Lord doesn’t come back we will continue to press forward with the gospel, feeding the hungry, ministering to the hurting and…we have a place where you can get involved.

As for IBF and our 2010 efforts we are giving away the Bible on CD in over 360 different languages. With over 140 different languages being spoken in the metroplex surely we have most of these languages on this disc. We have already given these away at Christmas and will give them as gifts to everyone who visits our Easter services.  We will also be putting these CD’s in every Baylor Hospital in Dallas County during the Easter weekend.

Let me say that if are not a member of IBF and would like a Bible on CD we would be happy to send one to you. Please post your request in the comments or you can send a request to the church: Irving Baptist Fellowship   2201 W. Shady Grove Road, Irving, Texas 75060.  Or, stop by and visit our services and we will be happy to hand it to you in person!  IBF delivering HOPE in Texas in 2010.

Come Worship with us any Sunday!  DF

  1. Dear Brother in Christ;

May the Love of our Father God and his grace be with you.
I am Rouf Gill from Pakistan. I am working as an evangelist in spreading the Word of our Lord.
I have studied your website, and found all your material is full of knowledge concerning development of faith in Jesus. I am so humble by seeing what your ministry is doing in the world. I say, may our almighty Jesus bless you physically, spiritually, and financially.
Beloved brothers, may I become part of the Lord compassionate soul winning team of yours? I am a man of Jesus who always has loved to work for him. I would like you to place me in your listing of ministry membership. Is it possible for your ministry to start working and winning souls here in Pakistan? We need people as yours to win souls for the Lord here.
Living in Pakistan, we as Christians face many obstacles. We are working in the villages where most are very poor. Daily pay, as sanitary workers, working the land of the Muslim - who have no respect for us, and treat us less than human. The workers don’t have time-off from work. Holidays within the year are forbidden. If, one takes off of work - they deduct that day from their salary pay.
    Our work
    • We are visiting the people every day to teach them the true meaning of Bible.
    • We understand the need of education here in the area of Pakistan the spiritual growth can only be possible
    • We are facing a many hardships because the people of this area are below the poverty line and they prefer their children to work in the hotels or some other places in spite of being educated so we have to support their family as well.
    • We are encouraging the people who can make Asian cultural hand made items. And we want to sell these items in international market to help these people because we believe when they will financially satisfied then they can take more interest in seeking the Holy Spirit and become the faithful Christians.
    • Most of the people in Pakistan are not capable to understand the English language. So we are translating the books into our language to fulfill the thirst of Holy Spirit in this area.

We are working in touch circumstances. It is not easy for us to spread the Word of God, we require many resources to complete this task, but have none. With the Blessing of God upon us, we believe one day, we will be successful in the Lord’s task here with its true meaning of his Word and life in him. We request you to make us a part of your ministry and be affiliate with us in prayer work for the spiritual growth of the people of Pakistan. I will be looking for your kind words on this my humble request as soon as possible.
    Sincerely,
    Rouf Gill (Pakistan)
